At textile.training we know that training isn’t just for textiles, it’s part of our everyday life without us even knowing it. So we’ve come up with a series of life tips that will help train you to get through life’s everyday struggles one tip at a time.
So we are well and truly into 2018 and trying to stick to those goals we made a month ago. Having an organised, clean and structured wardrobe makes it easier for you to stick to these goals as this is one less thing in your life you’ll need to worry about. A clean wardrobe allows you to free up space for new and better items, it saves you time in the morning searching for items at the back of your wardrobe and it can make you money! We’ve come up with 5 steps for you to clean your wardrobe below:
Step 1: Empty Your Wardrobe
Remove everything from your wardrobe! You want to have a clean slate before you start adding any items back in
Step 2: Start Adding
Start handing your clothing back into your wardrobe, but first ask yourself:
- Does this still fit?
- Do I want to wear this again?
- Is this damaged?
Hanging as many items as you can so you can see all of your clothing, if you can see it, you’ll wear it!
Step 3: Strategic Hanging
When adding your clothing back into your wardrobe hang your hangers away from you (hook part facing you). Check back in a few months to see which hangers are facing
Step 4: Folding
Fold your heavier items or knits that cannot be hung. If you do hang your heavier items over time they will stretch and loose their shape
Step 5: Go Through Your “Out” Pile
Now you can go through everything that you want to throw out and decide what you can sell, what you can donate to charity and what needs to be thrown out once and for all
